Making massage therapy a more accessible healing tool
On April 1st I am offering 45 minute sessions for a donation (this is not an April Fool's joke). Please call, text, email, or respond to this newsletter to schedule a session. My goal in offering this is to make the work I do more accessible to everyone who feels they would benefit from a massage/bodywork session and/or anyone who is new to this healing experience. Feel free to share this with friends and family. A minimum $20 donation is appreciated. Please feel free to give any amount that feels comfortable for you. I am also open to donations larger than $20- just in case you're wondering.
Massage therapy is growing in popularity as a healing tool used to aid in the treatment of pain, discomfort, injury- chronic & acute, and stress- mental, emotional, & physical. A few common conditions massage can help with include arthritis, tendinitis, ADHD, depression, eating disorders, sleep disorders, and well, most conditions really. The human body is a healing machine. It is designed to heal itself in brilliant ways. Massage therapy is one of the few healing tools used today that assists the body in it's own natural healing process. One simple way Massage does this is through the increase in blood flow. Blood carries oxygen and nutrients. It's the oxygen and nutrients that heal. Imagine functioning on little food and a diminished amount of oxygen to breathe in for several days. The same things happens to our internal structures when blood flow is depleted. Those "knots" in your shoulders (this is just one example by the way) -all the blood vessels innervating that muscle are being squeezed to death- no exaggeration. This is called avascular necrosis. My job is to soften the tense muscle creating space for those poor little cramped blood vessels so blood can flow through smoothly. This also includes increasing lymphatic flow which clears out waste build up in the muscle tissue often referred to as "toxins" and increased nerve conduction. Those nerves that are compressed in that tense muscle can create A LOT of pain that often manifests in funky ways. I had a client once who feared she had a brain tumor because her head hurt in an atypical headache kind of way. She was relieved of all head pain after one session. Massage therapy works. Massage may not be able to diagnose, treat, or cure brain tumors, but it will do other wonderful things like loosen your fascia so your body feels like it's breathing again.
